Debra Edgerton received her MFA degrees at both the San Francisco Art Institute and Vermont College of Fine Art in Painting and Interdisciplinary Art. She is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society and a lifetime member of the Transparent Watercolor Society. Ms. Edgerton has receive numerous grants and awards for her work that include the Arizona Art Commission on the Arts Project and Career Advancement Grants, the Elizabeth Graham Foundation Grant, the VanDenburg Grant, Contemporary Forum Artist Grant, and the Provost Award for Faculty Excellence in Global Learning.

Ms. Edgerton was a visiting scholar at Kansai University in Osaka, Japan, where she received a research grant for her work in the development of visual folktales. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (Houston, TX.), Phoenix Art Museum (Phoenix, AZ), Hampton Museum (VA.) , and the Beach Museum (Manhattan, KS). Edgerton’s painting of Queen Makeda is a part of the Great Kings and Queens of Africa series in the permanent collection of the United Negro College Fund.
